 Representatives from the Association are on Land Transport NZ advisory groups and are consulted by the Ministry of Transport, Transit New Zealand, the Department of Conservation and other relevant central and regional government organisations. This high level of regulation in the transport sector means RVA representatives work closely with industry regulators to ensure that regulations are based on common sense, economic analysis and are understood by the industry which has to apply them. Developing land transport rules requires support from those affected by the rules and the Association provides proactive representation. The majority of rental vehicle operators are involved in both domestic and international tourism and we provides information on changes in the tourism industry., We have input into development of policy decisions such as the competency of foreign drivers and whether more controls are required for hiring vehicles.
